Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has
set you free from the law of sin and death.”
Romans 8:1-2 (NIV)
We all know the enemy loves to lie to us. He makes us doubt our identity in Christ and makes us think we can’t possibly do what God is asking us to do. Sometimes he can get us to think that God won’t provide, or that prayer doesn’t really work. The ultimate goal is to make us lose faith.
“The thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy;
I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”
John 10:10 (NIV)
We need to remember who we are in Christ and that we are children of God. The enemy has already been defeated. There were lies spoken over me that I believed and spoke over myself for over three decades. The healing of the wounds inflicted have been in the healing process for all of that time. I do believe they are finally healed, and that is because God broke the power of those lies. But first I had to break ties with those lies and refuse to agree with them. That is what you need to do: Stop agreeing with the lies the enemy has spoken over you! If you don’t know what they are, ask God to reveal them, and then stop agreeing with them. If they come in your head again (and they will) refuse to speak them. Instead say aloud, “That is a lie and I will not agree with it!”
Heavenly Father, help me to recognize the lies that the enemy and others have spoken to me. Help me to not agree with them and not to speak them. Help me to refuse to allow them to stay in my mind or in my heart. Remind me of my true identity in Christ and of your great love for me. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
