I was thinking about what life would be like if we couldn’t pray to an all-powerful God. Honestly, I don’t think any of us want to know what it would be like, because all I can imagine is great despair and hopelessness. Thankfully, because of Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection, we have been reconciled to God and He calls us His children. We get to pray to an all-powerful God whom we also get to call “Father” and “Daddy”. He is a good God and good Daddy. In this fallen and broken world we do have hope. Let us lift each other up in prayer to the One who is in control. Sometimes it seems like God is not working, but He is. Ask for His strength because He is our Sustainer. We must not give up. Keep praying even if all you can do is cry and, through the tears, say “Help”. He hears the cry of our hearts and He holds us in His arms.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding,
will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV)
Heavenly Daddy, I thank You for making a way for us to be reconciled to You so that we may come to You with our troubles, burdens, broken hearts, and everything else. I am so thankful that You are not a distant God. Rather, You pursue us because You desire a relationship with us. Help me to remember to come to You in prayer first and to wait on Your answer rather than trying to fix things myself. I need You, and I know that You will never fail me. Give me the strength I need for each day and remind me to always put my trust in You. In Jesus’ name I pray AMEN.
