Day 33 – We Are All Apostles

Updated: Jul 22, 2020

The term “Apostle” is being used more and more frequently, and without taking anything away from the Office of the Apostle spoken of in Ephesians 4:11, did you know in another perspective of this term, we are ALL apostles?

The word “Apostle” did not originate with the 12 disciples’ new office. The Greek word from which we get the term “apostle” had been in use for a long while before the term was ever used in the gospel writings.  It is a military/governmental term; when ancient Greeks or the Roman military would conqueror new cities and lands, they would send out “apostles” whose job it was to teach the people the ways of the emperor, to change their culture, art, architecture, language, and how they lived life.  This was done so that when the emperor would come and visit this city, he would feel at home; everything would look and feel like where he was from.  So the apostles would be sent to remove the old culture and way of life and replace it with the new culture and way of life.  That is what every one of us is called to do here on earth.

We have been sent to bring change to our culture.  “On earth as it is in Heaven” is our mandate.  First we had to have an apostolic visit in our spirit-man.

“Whoever is a believer in Christ is a new creation.

The old way of living has disappeared.

A new way of living has come into existence.”

2 Corinthians 5:17 (GOD’s WORD Translation)

We have become releasers of the Kingdom of Heaven.  Whatever does not resemble our King’s domain, we remove and replace it with that which does.  When apostles see sickness and pain, they remove it and replace it with health and peace.  Whenever apostles see fighting and discord, they cause it to cease and replace it with love, acceptance and harmony.  Apostles move today as they did then, with all the authority and backing needed to be able to bring about the change they have been commissioned to make.  In the ancient military, apostles did not act on their own, but had all the armies of Rome at their disposal.   In the same manner, as apostles of Christ we have all the armies of Heaven ready to fight for us.

“Do you think I cannot call on my Father,

and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels?”

Matthew 6:53 (NIV)

We are called to change our culture to look like that of Heaven!

Father, I thank you for calling us all to change our culture; to be those who bring Heaven to Earth and expand the dominion of Your Kingdom in our sphere of influence.  Where sickness is found, healing will take its place, where lack is found, Your abundance will flow again.  Father, let Your Spirit reveal to those reading this now, that they are Apostles; world changers creating a place where You can walk and visit and feel at home as it begins to look more and more like Heaven itself.
